Effective date: the day PrepNest is released on the App Store. Last updated October 18, 2026.
These terms are an agreement between you and Kale Bradley Rathbun ("we", "us") about your use of the PrepNest app. By using PrepNest you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
1. Who can use PrepNest
You must be at least 13. If you are under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission, and they agree to these terms for you.
2. What PrepNest does
PrepNest plans a week of meals from your answers, builds a grocery list, estimates or looks up prices, and can hand your list to a store or shopping service when you ask it to. Features that depend on other companies (Kroger, Walmart, Google, Anthropic) may change or stop if those companies change their services.
PrepNest is free to use. PrepNest Pro is an optional subscription that adds more (see section 3). Everything that keeps you safe, including allergy and diet checks, the swaps that make a recipe safe, and every label and warning, is the same on the free plan.
3. PrepNest Pro
What it includes. Sending your list to a store's cart, planning every meal of the day (the free plan plans up to two), "Make it cheaper" and "Surprise me", comparing stores, batch prep sessions, calorie and protein targets with portion sizing, weeks planned around last week's leftovers, recipe suggestions from a short request, plan history, and unlimited swaps. We may improve or change these features; if we remove one that's a main reason people subscribe, we'll tell you in the app first.
Price and free trial. In the United States, PrepNest Pro is $5.99 a month or $39.99 a year (prices in other countries are shown in the app before you buy, and taxes may apply). New subscribers can get a 7-day free trial. If you subscribe during a trial, the unused part of the trial ends when the paid subscription starts.
Payment and renewal. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase, or when the free trial ends. Your subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends.
Cancelling. Manage or cancel anytime in your iPhone's Settings → your name → Subscriptions (or from Profile → PrepNest Pro → Manage subscription in the app). Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for. Deleting your PrepNest account doesn't cancel the subscription.
Refunds. Apple handles all payments, so refunds are requested from Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com) under Apple's policies. We can't issue refunds ourselves.
Price changes. If the price changes, Apple tells you beforehand and, where its rules require, asks you to agree before you're charged the new price.
When Pro ends. You go back to the free plan: your weeks, lists and settings stay, and future weeks plan up to two meals a day.
4. Not medical or dietary advice
PrepNest gives general meal-planning help. It is not medical, nutritional or dietary advice and doesn't replace a doctor or registered dietitian. Calorie and protein targets are estimates from standard formulas. Talk to a professional before changing your diet, especially if you are pregnant, under 18, managing a medical condition, or have a history of disordered eating.
5. Allergies: always read the label
PrepNest checks every recipe ingredient against the allergies and diets you tell it, and leaves out recipes that conflict. But:
- It only knows the allergies you enter, and it can only check the ingredients in its recipes.
- Store products can contain allergens that a plain ingredient doesn't (for example, a broth, sauce or spice blend), and recipes can't account for cross-contact in factories or kitchens.
- Brands change their recipes without notice.
Always read the label on every product you buy, and follow your doctor's advice. Never rely on PrepNest alone to keep you or anyone you cook for safe from an allergic reaction.
6. Prices
Prices marked "Live price at [Store]" come from that store when we fetched them and can change at any time. Walmart prices are Walmart.com's and can differ in the store. Prices marked "Estimated" are our estimates. Totals are a guide, not a quote: the price you pay at the store or on a shopping service is the one that counts.
7. Stores and other services
When you connect a store account or send a list to a store or shopping service, your use of that service is governed by its own terms and privacy policy. We aren't responsible for their products, prices, availability, orders, deliveries or refunds. PrepNest never places an order or pays for anything; you do that yourself on their site or app.
Some store links, such as Walmart's, are affiliate links: if you buy through one, the store may pay us a small commission. It never changes the price you pay, and it never decides which products we match to your list.
8. AI suggestions
"In the mood for something?" uses an AI model to suggest which recipes to favor. It can only choose among recipes that already passed your allergy and diet checks, but suggestions can still be imperfect. Use your own judgment.
9. Your account and content
Keep your sign-in codes to yourself; you're responsible for activity on your account. You keep ownership of what you put into the app. You give us permission to store and process it only to run PrepNest for you (see the Privacy Policy). When you share a grocery list, you let the people you give the code to see it.
10. Acceptable use
Please don't misuse PrepNest: don't try to break, overload or get around its security or limits, access other people's data, scrape or copy the recipe library in bulk, use it to break the law, or share list codes to harass anyone.
11. Our content
The app, its recipes, text and design belong to us or our licensors. Recipe photos are used under the Unsplash License and credited in the app. You may use PrepNest for your own personal, non-commercial meal planning.
12. Ending your use
You can stop using PrepNest and delete your account at any time in the app (Profile tab → Your account → Delete account). We may suspend or end access if you break these terms or if we stop offering the app; if we stop offering it, we'll give notice in the app where we reasonably can.
13. Disclaimers
PrepNest is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, including that the app will be error-free, always available, or that its recipes, nutrition figures, prices or store information are accurate or complete.
14. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any allergic reaction, illness or injury from food you choose to buy, prepare or eat. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for PrepNest Pro in the 12 months before the claim, or $50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is important, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use PrepNest after that means you accept the new terms.
16. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute about them or about PrepNest will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Indiana, and you and we agree to those courts' jurisdiction. Nothing here takes away rights you have under the consumer laws of the place you live.
